Mrs. Toplovich's 2009-2010 Literature Club
Welcome Book Club Members,
The requirements and responsibilities for your book club are outlined below. In order to receive full credit each member must complete all of the assigned requirements. In order for all of us in your book club to keep track of whom is speaking/writing remember to change your font style and color so I/we can know who is contributing to your page. Notice my font style and color, Toplovich, as I may decide to comment occasionally on your pages.
Enjoy working in this environment and with each other :-)
Due each computer day -
Each member must post two open-ended questions that relate to the chapters your group has read up to that computer day. Refer to the caldendar that you and your book club created. Your questions should be creative and induce the thoughts of your members. They should not be simple yes or no or one word response questions. They should display the team's comprehension of the plot that make your members think they are a character in the book. You are not to answer your own questions until all of your club members have had the chance to respond.
Example 1 - What is the protagonists name? This is not an open ended question!!!
Example 2 - What two character traits would you give to the main character and why?
Each member must respond to the questions posed by all of your team members. Be thoughful in your answers by communicating clearly your thinking and interpretation of the book. Remember we may not all interpret things in the same way as we have different background knowledge.
Your questions and repsonses must be in compelete sentences. Texting language and other similar shortcuts will not be accepted and points will be taken away. Use the terms we have learned in the study of fiction to convey your ideas as this will display your knowledge of said terms.
Vocabulary, each member must post one vocabualry word each computer day. This word can be a new word to you, an interesting word, not seen often, etc. Post the word, the definition, and then use the word in a sentence relating to your book.
Example - fission, the process of splitting an atom. Nuclear energy uses uranium in the fission process to create energy.
We will be sharing our wiki pages for your Book Club to the rest of the class the last week of school.
